Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka is an American-British musician and sitarist. She received the British House of Commons' Shield as the youngest, and also the first female recipient. Alongside receiving nine Grammy nominations She was also the very first Indian-origin musician to perform in the live ceremony. Anoushka Shankar is among India's most promising stars on the sitar. She is Ravi Shankar's pupil and is also his daughter. Born in London and grew up in New Delhi, she spent the first few years of her life bouncing between London and New Delhi. In the age of thirteen she staged her first performance in New Delhi. Then she relocated to Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Anouskha is still a young woman, nevertheless, she has an impressive career in music and performance. Her father has accompanied her to numerous performances over many years. She released her debut self-titled album Anourag in the year 1998. It was followed by the album Live At Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album two years following. Alongside performing at many of the biggest venues and venues, she also has a long stage career. The career of Anoushka goes far beyond music. Anoushka Shankar is an English born musician who spent her early years split between London, Delhi and California. When she was 9 She began studying music with her father. The first time she performed on the Sitar took place in her 75th birthday celebration in Delhi, four years after. The father of Anoushka travelled the globe with her, and she also gained a variety of opportunities. When she was still in her teens, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall during Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concert. She was the only female to receive the House of Commons Shield awarded by British Parliament to recognize her artistry and musicianship as an outstanding musician from the Asian Arts.
